Japanese Origami Paper Doll

Happy Sunday!!

Here is another Girls Day Card that I made using the Japanese Origami Paper Folding Technique.  In this card I used the Painted Bloom Designers Series Paper to make her kimono (Japanese Robe). The background is using Stampin' Up!'s Flourishing Flowers Stamp Set and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder. I found that the secret to paper folding is to make sure that folds are creased really good use a bone folder.

Here you can follow along and make your own Japanese Paper Doll and card:

Base of Card - Mossy Meadow Card Stock cut at 4 1/4" x 11"

Layer 1 - Basic Black Card Stock cut at 4" x 5 1/4"

Layer 2 - Mossy Meadow Card Stock cut at 3 3/4" x 5"

(2) Painted Bloom Designer Series Paper cut at 4 1/2" x 4 1/2"

(1) Pacific Blue Card Stock cut at 3" x 3"

(1) Whisper White Card Stock cut at 1/2" x 2"

(1) Pacific Blue Card Stock    1" x 3"

(1) Whisper White Card Stock 1" Circle

(1) Basic Black Card Stock 1" Circle

(1) Pacific Blue Card Stock Petite Petals

(1) Daffodil Delight Card Stock  Itty Bitty Punch

(1) Basic Black Card Stock   Note Tag Punch

(1) Basic Black Card Stock Artisan Label Punch

Score Pacific Blue at 1/2" and fold.

Take Whisper White and fold the Pacific Blue over the Whisper White creating a "V" for the neckline. You can secure the flaps down with adhesive and trim off any excess. Set aside.

Score DSP at 1/4" and 1/2" and alternate folds.

Fold DSP into thirds.

Fold top of DSP towards the middle in a diagonal. Straighten and even out kimono and crease.

Repeat to other side.

Score Pacific Point at 3/4" and 2 1/4" and fold.

Fold around doll and adhere

Using the Circle thinlits, use the 2nd largest circle and cut out circle.

Fold in half.

Create the sleeves by bring town the tips towards the middle and adhere with adhesive.

Adhere the face of the doll.

Trim off some of the Basic Black circle.

Adhere to the Whisper White circle.

Adhere the Basic Black Note Tap punch to the back of the doll.

Adorn your doll with flowers and rhinestones. I made the greeting on my computer and ran my Whisper White Card Stock through the printer. I punched the greeting out with 1 3/8" Circle Punch. Adhere the circle to the Artisan label and glue to your card.
